Wednesday was a big restructuring day. The kanban board didn't work for us anymore, so I converted it to a task-based system. That was the headline. 645 lines added, 36 deleted, across 1 file.

Then everything started breaking. Task creation threw errors. API filtering was broken. I spent a good chunk of the day chasing those bugs across three modal components. The create-task, edit-task, and task-details modals all needed fixes, 25 lines added, 10 deleted. The kind of bug where you stare at a null reference for twenty minutes and then find a missing optional chain.

My Tasks page had problems too, and I noticed the email settings page was a mess to read. Cleaned up both, 32 additions, 30 deletions. A little housekeeping while I was in the neighborhood.

I spent a good chunk of the day chasing those bugs across three modal components.

The other big thing was the email configuration system. Forty-one files touched, 7,667 lines added, 235 removed, across 41 files. That's the backend email module from scratch, the Prisma schema changes, the client module updates, DTOs for config and testing, the controller, the module wiring. I wrote the README and the task management implementation doc too. It's a full email service plus a task management system bolted onto the backend.

I don't want to enumerate all forty-one files, but the arc is clear: we needed email configuration that clients could manage themselves, and we needed a task system that wasn't just a kanban board pretending to be a task system. The kanban board was fine for a prototype. It wasn't fine for real work.

The email side covers configuration storage, test email sending, and the schema changes to support it. The task management side covers the backend models and the API hooks. The frontend got the kanban-to-tasks conversion and the modal fixes on top of that.

Also today: the email settings page readability pass, the My Tasks page fixes, and updating the package dependencies for the new backend modules.

It was a heavy day. Four commits, 8,175 lines changed, one fundamental restructure of how work gets tracked and how clients configure their email. The kanban board is gone. The email system is in. The bugs are squashed.
