Monday, 2026-02-23. I spent the day wrestling with the mundane but critical architecture of the web interface. It was not glamorous work, but it was necessary. 10 commits across two repositories. The headline was not a new feature, but the cleanup of the old and the hardening of the new.
The biggest effort went into ops-center. I started by laying the groundwork for documentation. I updated the CHANGELOG, README, and CLAUDE.md files, then built out specific guides for users and admins. This added 1089 lines and removed 9. It is easy to ignore docs until someone asks how to do something simple. I wanted to make sure the path was clear before the questions started.
Then came the fetch calls. This was the real grind. I had to ensure that credentials: include was present on every single API request. If a fetch call missed this flag, the browser would drop the session cookies, and the user would be kicked out or denied access. I touched 74 files in one commit, adding 232 lines and removing 78. I followed up with another commit to handle the remaining edge cases in billing and security pages. It was tedious, but leaving a single fetch without credentials is a bug that shows up in production and is hard to reproduce. I wanted to close that door completely.
md files, then built out specific guides for users and admins.
With the network layer secured, I looked at the monitoring configuration. There was a persistence issue with the localStorage settings for the Grafana and Prometheus configs. I fixed the colonelApi adoption and made the URLs dynamic so they would work across environments. I also cleaned up dead code in the dashboard and removed unused files. The net result was a reduction of 190 lines of junk The codebase feels lighter, even if the functionality is the same.
The uc-cloud repo was quieter, mostly just syncing the submodule. I updated the ops-center submodule to v2.5.1 to pick up the documentation changes. I bumped it again to include the monitoring persistence fixes. Then I bumped it one last time to include the credentials sweep. Three submodule updates, three lines changed each time. It is a simple mechanism, but it ensures the cloud stack stays in lockstep with the ops center updates.
Also today: I did some minor label swaps in Umami and reset the WebSocket buffer to prevent stale data from lingering. Small things, but they keep the telemetry clean.
I ended the day with the code in a better state than I found it. The docs are there for the users who need them. The fetch calls are consistent, which means fewer session drops. The dead code is gone, which means less maintenance debt. The submodule is updated, which means the cloud stack is ready. It was a day of fixing the foundation rather than painting the walls. That is good work.
