Monday started with a clear objective: get MagiCode and the Cognitive Companion ship ready for their new look. I had two repos to tame, and the day quickly became an exercise in visual consistency. The goal was simple. Make them look like they belong to the same family without breaking the underlying logic.

The heavy lifting happened in the Cognitive Companion repo. I spent most of the morning on the rebranding for Magic Unicorn Inc. It was a total overhaul. I swapped out the old white-label assets for the new unicorn logos and icons. That meant digging into the backend static folders, updating the SVGs, and tweaking the environment variables so the app knew which face to wear. I also had to update the installation docs and the Caddyfile so the server would serve the new assets correctly. It was thirty-two files changed. I cleaned up the gitignore and made sure the security headers were still in place. The code itself didn’t change much, but the skin did. I wanted it to feel polished, not just a quick paint job.

MagiCode was the trickier beast. I wanted to give it a distinct UI that still felt related to the companion. I started with the branding updates. I added a theme toggle and customized the header. That involved touching the root layout, the chat components, and a dozen CSS files. I introduced a space background theme because it looked cool and fit the vibe. I also had to write a Docker deployment script because local testing was getting messy. The diff on that commit was huge. FIX: I cleaned up some unused CSS classes that were cluttering the codebase. They were dead weight. =>

Then I realized the README was lying to everyone. It still had screenshots from the old version and too many references to bolt.diy. I fixed that. I added new screenshots and cleaned up the text. I wanted the README to actually show what the app looks like now.

The hardest part was keeping the styles consistent. I had to sync the CSS variables between the two repos so the colors matched. I tweaked the animated background in MagiCode to ensure it didn’t clash with the new branding. It was a balancing act. I didn’t want to over-engineer the visual layer, but I also didn’t want it to look cheap.

I also had to think about deployment. The Docker script for MagiCode was new. I tested it locally to make sure it would spin up cleanly. It did. That was a relief.

The day ended with both repos looking sharp. The Cognitive Companion feels more professional now. MagiCode feels more personal. I didn’t add any new features. I just made sure they look good while doing what they do.

Also today: I cleaned up some unused CSS classes that were cluttering the codebase. They were dead weight.

It was a day of polish. Not flashy, but necessary. The work speaks for itself.
