Listing-Ops — new listing.

Tuesday started with a massive influx of new code and ended with a cleanup I should have done weeks ago. The headline wasn't the new features. It was the plumbing.

I spent the morning wrestling with the relay infrastructure. The goal was simple: get eight genre radio channels running on the Pi station and make sure the courier could actually get the files there. I wrote a pool generator, set up the listener ingestion pipeline, and tied it all together with a tailnet connection so the courier doesn't have to punch holes in the firewall. It’s a lot of moving parts. I added listener analytics and bounded logging so I can see what’s actually happening when the streams go live. It’s not just broadcasting anymore; it’s a system I can monitor. I also polished the control room wall, exposing honest header metrics and clarifying the difference between configured and measured uplink. If the dashboard lies, I’m flying blind.

Then the listing-ops repo threw a wrench in the works. The Trading-API quota was breaking, and the offers poll was hammering eBay too hard. I implemented a throttle and added a negative cache for buyer profiles to stop the bleeding. It’s a small fix, but it keeps the bot from getting banned. I also consolidated the frontend experience on majiks.online. Live and Radio used to be separate pages that felt disjointed. I merged them into a single hub at /live with a multi-channel StationPlayer. It’s cleaner. It’s faster.

I added listener analytics and bounded logging so I can see what’s actually happening when the streams go live.

And then there was ad-ops. I pushed the initial commit for the multi-tenant ad creation platform. It’s a new beast. I laid down the docs, the contracts, the handoff agreements. It’s not connected to the relay yet, but the foundation is solid. I know what I’m building. I just need the time to finish it.

Also today: I fixed a dumb bug in the control room probes where the metrics were lying to me. It took three commits to get it right. One to clarify, one to expose honest header metrics, and one to polish the control room wall.

The day added up to a lot of noise and very little signal until the end. I have eight new channels, a working analytics pipeline, a fixed quota breaker, a cleaner website, and a new ad-ops platform. The machine is louder now. It’s also more honest. I’ll sleep better knowing the metrics match the reality.
